GAT Virtual Expo analyzed the challenges and opportunities of online gaming in LatAm

(Colombia, SoloAzar Exclusive) .- Karen Sierra, Director for Latin America and the Caribbean of GLI, Fernando Garita Director of Business Development at Betcris, and Germán Segura, manager of BetPlay, were in charge of carrying out the panel “Online Gaming in LATAM: Challenges, immediate opportunities and new developments ”, during the second day of GAT Virtual Expo.
Fernando Saffores, founder of Focus Gaming News, served as moderator and began the conference by asking the panel: The pandemic hit the industry hard and operators have had to get up quickly. How was the process of adaptation to this new reality?
Karen Sierra commented: "I think it has a lot to do with the diversification that there has been in gaming content and technologies" and gave the example that since there are no sporting events and sports betting accounts for 80% of the market, this resulted in to the growth of casino, esport and other games bets.
"There was also creativity in terms of cashless payment methods, such as QR Code technology, which create a convergence between the physical world and the online world," she added.
Fernando Garita said: “The operators had to focus on the Operational, the house had to be rearranged in record time; and the Content; what we were going to offer to customers and strengthen it ”.
“People are not used to virtual money yet, as they are in Europe, so it has been very difficult. Income has dropped. At the business level we had to accommodate ourselves, doing an important financial gymnastics, it was time to see the issue of investments and renegotiate contracts, it was time to invest in our own technology ... I think that what teaches us the most is to be self-sufficient and to be able to create our solutions within the companies ”, added Germán Segura.
